Pillsbury hires partner to corporate and securities — technology practice

Pillsbury has announced that Alan B Kalin has joined the firm’s corporate and securities — technology practice in the Silicon Valley office. Kalin, who has spent more than 35 years as a corporate lawyer in this region, joins Pillsbury from the Palo Alto office of Bingham McCutchen, where he has been a partner since 1999.

Kalin represents emerging growth companies, entrepreneurs, investors and public companies in Silicon Valley, advising on mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings, venture capital financings, new business formation, strategic technology transactions and general corporate matters.

His transactional work includes guiding long-time client NetLogic Microsystems in its 2011 $3.7bn (£2.2bn) acquisition by Broadcom. Last year, Kalin led underwritten follow-on public offerings for semiconductor company MoSys (6.5 million common shares) and business phone provider 8×8 (14,375,000 common shares).

Kalin received his JD from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law, in 1978 and his BS from the University of Illinois in 1974. Before becoming a lawyer, he was a licensed CPA in Illinois.
