Egorov strengthens capital markets group with rival managing partner hire

Russian firm Egorov Puginsky Afanasiev & Partners is boosting its capital markets practice with the hire of a team led by the managing partner of corporate and finance boutique Liniya Prava.

Dmitriy Glazounov and a team of nine lawyers and two support staff start work at Egorov Puginsky today (14 March). Glazounov will head up the larger firm’s banking and finance and capital markets practices in Moscow.

Glazounov has significant experience in capital markets and before founding Liniya Prava held senior roles at the Federal Commission for the Securities Market of Russia and the Agency for Housing Mortgage Lending.

He advises on debt and equity capital markets and securitisations. His clients include major international and Russian financial institutions such as BNP Paribas, Morgan Stanley, Citibank, VTB Capital, Renaissance Capital and VEB Capital as well as corporates.

Glazounov said the combination of Egorov Puginsky’s size and breadth and his team’s experience could create the strongest banking and finance and capital markets practice in Russia.

Egorov Puginsky, which recently won European Law Firm of the Year at The Lawyer’s European Awards (21 February 2014) has made only a handful of lateral partner hires in the last few years. In late 2012 it picked up legacy Herbert Smith partner Robin Wittering to build its English law capacity (21 November 2012), while three years ago it hired Baker & McKenzie’s St Petersburg litigation head Ivan Smirnov (21 April 2011).
