DLA Piper advises QIC on construction of NorthConnex motorway in Sydney

DLA Piper has advised the global infrastructure arm of QIC in relation to its participation in the consortium that will fund the construction of and own the AUD3bn (£1.7bn) NorthConnex motorway in north-west Sydney.

The other members of the consortium with QIC are Transurban and the Canadian Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB).

DLA Piper partners Bryan Pointon and David Harley and senior associate Lyndon Masters advised QIC on the consortium arrangements, as well as the proposed operating and maintenance and tolling arrangements for the motorway.

Once completed, the proposed 9km tunnel and interchanges to the north and south connecting the M1 Pacific Motorway at Wahroonga to the M2 motorway at West Pennant Hills, will link Sydney’s north to the Orbital network and form part of the National Highway route.

Herbert Smith Freehills is advising Transurban; Allens is advising CPPIB; and King & Wood Mallesons is advising the consortium. Clayton Utz is advising the New South Wales government on the project.
