Berwin Leighton Paisner has taken eight associates into the partnership across its London, Moscow and Hong Kong offices.
It is the smallest promotions round since 2010 when eight were promoted, compared with nine in 2013, 11 in 2012, and 13 in 2011.
The bulk of the promotions were in the London corporate team, which took on three new partners. The remaining associate, Matvey Kaploukhiy, will join the corporate partnership in Moscow.
The real estate and litigation teams made up one apiece, marking a continued slowdown to internal promotions in those groups. In 2012 the firm promoted three litigation partners (18 April 2012) and four real estate partners but in 2013 it made up only one in each (7 March 2013).
BLP also promoted only two finance associates, an increase of one on the previous year but not enough to plug recent exits to the team.
The firm was hit with a flood of departures last year, including the resignation of head Matthew Kellett and culminating in a wholescale review of the team (30 October 2013).
This week it took further hits with the departures of finance partner Lucy Oddy and real estate finance duo Andrew Flemming and Jo Solomon (25 March 2014).
The two new finance partners are Tariq Rasheed, made up in London and Justin Sun made up in Hong Kong.
