Baker & McKenzie is to be joined in its London financial services group by RPC’s former head of financial services and regulatory Steven Francis.
Francis joined RPC from the Financial Services Authority in 2008 and founded and led the firm’s financial services and regulatory group until it was subsumed into the corporate team led by James Mee two years ago.
Francis specialises in FCA enforcement work, non-contentious FCA compliance advice, financial crime and corporate compliance issues. He also worked for the FSA as an enforcement manager where he handled cases involving insider dealing, regulatory market abuse and money laundering.
RPC managing partner Jonathan Watmough said Francis had played an important role in helping to build the firm’s capability in financial services and regulatory matters.
The firm posted a record global turnover along with double-digit growth in average profit per equity partner (PEP) for the financial year ending 30 June 2013, with global fee income totaled $2.419bn in the previous year (28 August 2013).
