The conference on the achievements of the EU strategy for the welfare of animals 2012–15: mid-term review took place on 12 February 2014.
Animal welfare has become increasingly regulated in recent years, including the bans on individual sow stalls 2013, conventional cages for laying hens in 2012 and animal testing for cosmetics in 2009, although it was not specifically included in the Food Information for Consumers Regulation 1169/2011.
