Shiblaq, Bishr

Bishr Shiblaq is head of the Dubai representative office where he advises clients based in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia on Luxembourg legal and regulatory matters.

He advises on all issues relating to the structuring of international transactions and the setting up of regulated or unregulated investment structures in Luxembourg.

He is also a senior advisor in the bank lending and structured finance practice at Arendt & Medernach, where he specialises in banking and finance, in particular structured finance, securitisation, asset finance and Islamic finance.

Prior to joining Arendt & Medernach in Luxembourg, Shiblaq worked for several years within the legal department of a leading research institution funded by the federal government of Germany.

He is also a member of the Middle East Working Group of the Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry (ALFI), as well as a member of the United Arab Emirates Chapter of the International Fiscal Association.

Shiblaq is a regular author on Islamic finance in various Islamic finance journals and other specialised publications and is regularly invited to speak on Luxembourg-related topics at conferences in the region.

He holds a Master’s degree in law from the University of Cologne, as well as a Master of Laws (LL.M) in International Economic Law from the University of Warwick in the UK.

Shiblaq speaks Arabic, English, French and German and has a reading knowledge of Spanish.
