Norton Rose has boosted its corporate practice in Australia with the hire of three partners from Australian firm Corrs Chambers Westgarth.
The three corporate partners, Richard Lewis, Iain Laughland and Steve Johns, will join Norton Rose’s Sydney office.
Lewis headed the private equity practice in Corrs’ Sydney office where he advised private equity funds and pension funds. Prior to joining Corrs in 2003 he was a partner with legacy Australian firm Deacons and helped set up the firm’s private equity practice group.
Laughland’s practice focuses on equity capital markets transactions, while Johns focuses on private equity, corporate reconstructions and cross-border M&A deals.
According to Norton Rose’s Australia managing partner Wayne Spanner: “The appointments highlight the investments we continue to make to ensure our clients receive advice from the country’s leading corporate lawyers.”
Norton Rose merged with Australian firm Deacons in 2009 (23 June 2009). The latest lateral hires will push the total number of partners in Australia to 150.
