Blackstone Chambers’ James Eadie QC has retained his role as lead counsel for the SFO in its defence of two multi-million pound damages claims brought by brothers Vincent and Robert Tchenguiz.
Eadie was instructed by the SFO on last year’s judicial review into the body’s investigation into the brothers’ business dealings (25 May 2012).
He will be supported by Serle Court’s Dominic Dowley QC, One Essex Court’s Simon Colton, Blackstone’s James Segan and Monckton Chambers’ Brendan McGurk in next year’s scheduled hearing into the damages claims, which were filed by the brothers late last year.
Vincent Tchenguiz, who has filed a £200m claim, is represented by Stephenson Harwood partner Sean Jeffrey, who has instructed Debevoise & Plimpton Europe and Asia litigation chair Peter Goldsmith QC and Fountain Court Chambers’ Bankim Thanki QC, Rosalind Phelps and James Duffy.
Meanwhile, Robert Tchenguiz, claiming around £100m, has turned to Shearman & Sterling partner Jo Rickard, with Essex Court Chambers’ Joe Smouha QC, Matrix Chambers’ Alison Macdonald and Essex Court junior Anton Dudnikov (1 March 2013).
There was a case management conference in the case last week (27 March) before Mr Justice Eder, and the full trial is set to be heard in 2014.
