Belgian corporate boutique Strelia has made its first lateral hire since its foundation, picking up former White & Case corporate partner Gisèle Rosselle.
Rosselle specialises in corporate and corporate finance transactions and will join Strelia’s M&A and corporate group, alongside founding partners Olivier Clevenbergh and Henri Culot.
Strelia is planning further associate hires to complement the growing team.
Rosselle joined White & Case in 2001 as a partner, having previously worked at Allen & Overy, and left the firm last summer. She has advised on a range of significant deals, including last year’s $3.9bn acquisition of Denizbank, a subsidiary of Belgian bank Dexia, by Russia’s Sberbank (11 June 2012).
The news follows yesterday’s announcement that Stibbe, where Clevenbergh previously worked, has hired two corporate partners from White & Case in Brussels (20 March 2013).
Strelia was founded in the new year (7 January 2013) by partners from Benelux firms Nauta Dutilh, Stibbe and Tossens & Associés. With Rosselle on board it will have seven partners, with a total of 22 lawyers on the roster.
Clevenbergh said broadening the firm’s corporate offering was one of the strategic plans for Strelia.
