A message to you from Rudy

A slice of New York is coming to The Lawyer today, as former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani hits our screens. Or our website at least.

Rudy – Mr Mayor to you and us – is one of the best-known figures in America, never mind just in the US legal market. His capable handling of the 9/11 aftermath saw to that. But in legal circles he has helped his firm make waves, particularly in New York, since joining in 2005. Now he’s turning his attention to doing the same in the UK.

“We’re encouraged by our experience in New York,” the former Mayor of that city says in our exclusive video interview. “Twenty per cent succeed, 80 per cent fail. We’re one of the ones that succeeded greatly and grew our practice internationally as a result of being in New York. We think London is very similar to New York in that regard.”

As we reported earlier this year, Bracewell & Giuliani beefed up its London office by hiring two energy lawyers including Simmons & Simmons partner Julian Nichol.

Check out what Rudy has to say about how the current boom in energy – and shale gas in particular – will help his firm with its plans.

It might just leave UK lawyers saying “fracking hell”.
