Benelux

Allen & Overy has announced that Yvo de Vries will join its global Antitrust practice as a partner based in Amsterdam. De Vries joins Allen & Overy from Philips where he was a senior director for antitrust.

Dutch firm AKD has appointed four new associate partners: Marinke Bonnier, Robbert-Jan Boswijk, Marlies Pierik and Annemieke Spijker, with effect from 1 June 2016. Bonnier is a candidate civil-law notary in AKD’s finance & structuring practice group; Boswijk is responsible for business crime and fraud; Pierik is a construction and real estate expert; and Spijker is a member of the transport team.

Bird & Bird has appointed Sophie Dingenen as a partner in the energy & utilities sector group, based in The Hague. Dingenen joins from Baker & McKenzie where she was a counsel.

Biesheuvel Jansen Advocaten has hired Joeke Arnoldus as a corporate partner. Arnoldus was previously senior legal counsel for automotive company Markeur.

Hervé Précigoux has joined Luxembourg firm Vandenbulke as counsel in its corporate team. Précigoux was previously a managing associate at Linklaters.

Central & Eastern Europe

Kinstellar has announced that Anthony O’Connor has joined its Budapest office as partner and head of the Hungarian corporate and M&A practice and the co-head of the firm-wide private equity sector. Prior to joining Kinstellar, O’Connor was a partner at White & Case and later Dentons in Budapest.

Germany

Gleiss Lutz has recruited Hans-Joachim Reck as of counsel in Berlin. Reck was previously the CEO of the German Association of Local Public Utilities until August 2015.

Gowling WLG has hired Manuela Finger as a partner in Munich. Finger joins from King & Wood Mallesons’ Frankfurt office, where she was an intellectual property and information technology partner.

Iberia

Cuatrecasas Gonçalves Pereira has re-elected its board of directors, the firm’s highest decision-making body. The board now consists of senior partner Rafael Fontana, secretary Raimundo Segura, Martí Adroer, Silvia Albertí, Jorge Badía, Antonio Baena, Fernando Bernad, Ricardo Echevarría, Juan Javier Labayen, Maria João Ricou, Miguel Trías and Javier Villasante. Under the firm’s by-laws, the board has a four-year term.

CMS has hired Jorge Sánchez Vicente as a litigation partner in Barcelona. Vicente was previously a member of the board of directors of the Port Authority of Barcelona and secretary of the governing council and executive committee of synchrotron radiation facility ALBA.

Italy

Dentons has launched a competition and antitrust practice in Milan with the hire of a new partner, Michele Carpagnano. Carpagnano joins from Gianni Origoni Grippo Cappelli & Partners where he was an associate.

Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe has appointed Betty Louie as an M&A and private equity partner in Rome. Louie focuses on cross-border M&A with particular expertise in representing Chinese companies in investments in Italy and Europe. She was previously a partner at DLA Piper.

Switzerland

Charles Russell Speechlys has expanded its practice in Switzerland by appointing three Swiss-qualified partners to its Geneva office. The three new partners are Olivier Cavadini, Bruno Ledrappier and Grégoire Uldry. Cavadini joins from Python & Peter and specialises in commercial and corporate law. Ledrappier and Uldry both join from Borel & Barbey. Ledrappier is a litigator and Uldry a private client specialist.
