Shearman and Squire Sanders star in TV deals frenzy

Over the past couple of weeks TV deals have played a starring role in the M&A market.

All3Media, the indie production company behind Chester-based soap Hollyoaks and Midsomer Murders, became the latest European acquisition by Liberty Global alongside Discovery Communications. US giant Viacom pocketed Channel 5, while ITV made its latest move in the American market by acquiring Real Housewives of New Jersey creator Leftfield Entertainment.

Firms including Shearman & Sterling, Rosenblatt, Clifford Chance and Squire Sanders picked up roles on the trio of deals worth a combined sum of roughly £1.2bn.

Pinsent Masons will also be celebrating having pipped Slaughter and May to the post in a deal for car rental business Europcar after securing a role on the £500m refinancing of its UK business.
