Christopher Hotten QC from No5 Chambers prosecutes baby murder

Christopher Hotten QC from No5 Chambers has prosecuted in the case of the murder of a two-month-old baby. Tyler Vallance, 21, Redditch, has pleaded guilty to killing his baby daughter, Isabella Vallance, on 12 December 2012.

He also pleaded guilty to a charge of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent.

Hotten QC, prosecuting, said: ‘We are all of the view that we accept those pleas.’ He said that although there were two charges, it was likely that ‘each occurred over a short period of time in a momentary loss of control by somebody with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and Tourette’s.’

Separately, Jessica Wiggins, Isabella’s mother, will face a trial starting 24 June for alleged child cruelty between 5 October and 9 December 2012 and causing or allowing the death of Isabella.
