A&O, Herbies and Macfarlanes keep Virgin panel spots after review

Allen & Overy (A&O), Herbert Smith Freehills and Macfarlanes are among eight firms to have retained positions of Virgin Group’s panel following an informal review.

Virgin Group launched a full audit of its legal advisory roster with the aim of assessing the existing relationships with its panel firms in November (12 November 2013).

The wide-ranging Virgin umbrella group includes Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Money and Virgin Active.

All eight firms retained their places after the review, which is done as a matter of course every two years.

The full line up is: A&O, Bond Dickinson, Bird & Bird, Burges Salmon, Dentons, Harbottle & Lewis, Herbert Smith Freehills and Macfarlanes.

Virgin Media was sold to Liberty Global for $23.3bn (£14.9bn) last year (6 February 2013), a deal in which several UK and US firms were involved including: Allen & Overy, Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson, Latham & Watkins, Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy, and Ropes & Gray, Shearman & Sterling.

Mine Hifzi took over from acting general counsel Pamela Claridge at Virgin Media in March (17 March 2014).
