Walker Morris has named former Deloitte managing partner Stuart Counsell as its first non-executive board director.
Counsell spent over three decades at Deloitte, ending his career at the Big Four accountancy firm as managing partner of the finance and legal divisions.
The Leeds firm is the latest in a string of UK firms to appoint non-executive board members, including DWF (4 June 2013) and Ashurst (29 May 2013). Weightmans (29 April 2013) is also on the hunt for a non-executive.
Counsell said in a statement that he had worked closely with Walker Morris on corporate finance matters while at Deloitte. “I’ve seen at first hand their strong service and performance culture and I’m pleased to be part of their ongoing growth and success,” he added.
Walker Morris managing partner Ian Gilbert said the firm had wanted its first non-executive director to have knowledge and experience of the professional services industry.
The firm has added a number of lateral hires recently, including Cobbetts’ finance litigation team (7 February 2013).
