King & Wood Mallesons has announced some changes to its Australian management team. The law firm has appointed corporate partner Tim Bednall as managing partner, responsible for the corporate M&A and tax practices. In addition, managing partner Scott Gardiner will add the real estate, construction, environment and infrastructure practices to his existing responsibilities of overseeing the energy, resources and projects sector and China practice.
Bednall joined King & Wood Mallesons’ M&A practice in 2004 and has a successful track record practicing in mergers and acquisitions, corporate advisory and competition law. He was chairman of the Australian practice until December 2012.
During his term as chairman, Bednall oversaw significant changes at the firm, including its combination with China’s King & Wood.
Newly appointed managing partner Australia, Sue Kench, made the appointment following consultation with the board.
