Gordons launches pensions team with Eversheds hires

Yorkshire firm Gordons has announced the launch of a pensions team with the hire of Eversheds’ Leeds pensions head Terry Saeedi.

Saeedi is joining Gordons along with two associates and a professional support lawyer.

The launch of a pensions team is part of Gordon’s strategic growth plan. Managing partner Paul Ayre said the hires complemented the firm’s corporate offering. They follow last year’s hires by Gordons of Dickinson Dees partner Ros Harwood to launch a charities team and that of DWF partner Andrew Todd to head up property litigation.

Todd and Saeedi were both formerly partners at Hammonds. Todd left the firm in 2007 (5 March 2007) with Saeedi moving to Eversheds 18 months later (13 October 2008).

Saeedi specialises particularly in pension funding, risk management, liability and security arrangements and she advises both pension trustees and corporates.

She said the team would provide a service to Gordons’ existing corporate clients as well as build a standalone pensions practice.

A number of lawyers have left Eversheds’ regional offices recently. A team of property lawyers, including five partners, moved to DWF’s Manchester and Newcastle offices (9 May 2013) and another six-strong real estate team left the Birmingham office for Shakespeares (14 May 2013).
