Slaughter and May has made up a new partner in Hong Kong, with the promotion taking effect from 1 August 2014.
The addition of associate Charlton Tse, who specialises in M&A and corporate finance, will bring the firm’s total number of partners in Hong Kong and Beijing up to 13. Of those, four have been added since March 2014.
In March, Slaughters made up new corporate and M&A partner Clara Choi and antitrust partner Natalie Yeung in the jurisdiction.
Slaughters’ senior partner Christopher Saul said: “Over time we’ve made periodic promotions in Hong Kong when the moment is right. We’re pleased with activity in Asia at the moment and therefore thought that it was a good moment to add Charlton to the partnership.”
He added that the strategy behind the promotions is to “keep developing appropriately the partnership bench in Asia”.
Slaughter and May made up seven associates to partner in London in May, marking the firm’s highest number of promotions in more than six years. Of those seven, two sit within the firm’s competition group. Meanwhile, dispute resolution, corporate, financing, tax and restructuring were gifted one new partner apiece (19 March 2014).
Tse’s promotion bring Slaughters’ total number of partners worldwide up to 120.
