Gateley has announced one hire and two promotions across the Leicester and Nottingham offices. The Nottingham operation has recruited Paul Simpson as corporate senior associate and promoted William Cursham to construction associate. In Leicester, commercial dispute resolution (CDR) lawyer Claire Herbert has been promoted to associate.
Simpson advises on corporate matters including private equity, management buy-ins (MBIs), management buy-outs (MBOs), acquisitions, disposals and shareholder and joint venture arrangements. He has experience acting for individuals, partnerships, management teams, small and medium-sized enterprises, investors and private equity funds.
Having joined the firm in June 2011, Cursham is a litigator specialising in property disputes. His clients include leading UK house builders, as well as commercial property developers, commercial landlords, commercial tenants, Law of Property Act (LPA) receivers and insolvency practitioners. He is a member of the Property Litigation Association and regularly contributes articles to industry publications, including Estates Gazette.
Working between Leicester and London, Herbert is experienced in dealing with media litigation, contractual claims, professional negligence, shareholder and partnership disputes and enforcement action. In particular, she specialises in contentious probate/inheritance claims and mediation as an alternative method of dispute resolution. Headed by CDR partner Chris Greenwell, the commercial litigation team was placed in tier one of the 2013 Legal 500 directory for the East Midlands.
Herbert is also actively involved in the wider business community as chair of Network LE, an independent networking organisation for Leicester’s professional community and as organising committee member of L Factor, an annual charity singing contest. Earlier this year, she was named one of the top four rising stars in the inaugural East Midlands Fastest 40 Awards ‘Fastest in Professional Services’ category.
