DLA Piper has announced that Maria Rodriguez has been named to the Daily Journal’s 2014 list of ‘Top Labor and Employment Lawyers’, which recognises the top employment litigators, counsellors and advisers in California.
The Daily Journal highlighted Rodriguez’s work on behalf of Princess Cruise Lines, which faced allegations of age and disability discrimination, retaliation and defamation. Rodriguez obtained dismissals of two individual defendants and cost awards and the cruise line collected $10,000 (£5,860) in costs against the plaintiff.
In addition, Rodriguez was recognised for successfully defeating eight causes of action on behalf of Jamba Juice Co in a wage-and-hour class action, as well as upholding a demurrer on appeal that resulted in the full dismissal of class claims against LAN Airlines and LAN cargo at the pleading stage.
Rodriguez, a partner in DLA Piper’s Los Angeles office, counsels domestic and foreign corporations in all areas of employment law compliance. She specialises in resolving client disputes with proactive planning but also has extensive litigation defence experience, including wage-and-hour, discrimination, WARN and seating class actions and multiple plaintiff cases.
In 2010, the Daily Journal also profiled Rodriguez in its ‘Top 20 Under 40’ series for her work in labour and employment litigation.
