DAC Beachcroft has strengthened its corporate insurance and health real estate teams with two partner hires in London.
Adrian Williams, EMEA general counsel at Zurich-based reinsurer Swiss Re, and Hempsons partner Nathan East both took up their new positions at DAC Beachcroft this week.
Williams is a specialist in corporate insurance law and prudential regulation. Prior to Swiss Re he was head of legal at QBE European Operations in London for five years. He was also a partner at Irish law firm Matheson.
East trained at Baker & McKenzie and specialises in advising medical professionals, developers, care providers, NHS, regulatory and professional bodies as well as social enterprises, charities and commercial organisations.
He handles all aspects of commercial real estate work in the health sector, specialising in development matters, landlord and tenant, acting for owners and occupiers, and large disposals and acquisitions.
DAC Beachcroft’s insurance head David Pollitt said in a statement that Williams was appointed in response to the firm’s insurance clients wanting corporate and commercial advice from panel firms, as well as advice from a claims perspective.
Williams said: “Very few law firms understand the different demands placed on GCs and in-house legal teams in the current economic climate, whether transactional or operational in nature, and whether in mature or high-growth markets.” He added that the corporate insurance team at DAC Beachcroft “really gets this”.
Meanwhile, health real estate head Eve Gregory said East “adds an important extra dimension to our existing health practice with his considerable experience of advising GPs”.
The firm recently announced the launch of an employment law and human resources consultancy service, The People Pool. Earlier this week it announced a formal association with São Paulo-based corporate and commercial firm, Wongtschowski & Zanotta (8 July 2013).
