Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton has become the latest firm to take advantage of Shearman & Sterling’s downsizing in Germany by hiring litigation partner Richard Kreindler in Frankfurt.
Kreindler’s move follows Shearman’s announcement earlier this year (23 April 2013) that it was closing down its Düsseldorf and Munich offices and refocusing its German strategy on Frankfurt.
The decision followed several months of departures at Shearman in Germany, with partners leaving for firms including Allen & Overy (23 April 2013), Glade Michel Wirtz (13 April 2013) and Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom (6 February 2012, 8 October 2012). Latham & Watkins has also taken a team from Shearman to launch in Düsseldorf (8 May 2013).
Kreindler is a litigator and arbitrator and also advises clients on compliance and anti-corruption. He is admitted in New York and Paris.
