Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan is moving into Olswang’s City offices following its rapid expansion in the UK over the last 12 months.

Litigation heavyweight Quinn will take one floor of Olswang’s High Holborn home in March, just two months before Olswang merges with CMS Cameron McKenna and Nabarro.

Quinn has grown significantly in the last year, taking on six partners including Macfarlanes head of financial services David Berman, Herbert Smith Freehills construction disputes partner James Bremen and Addleshaw Goddard civil fraud head Mark Hastings.

It will gain nearly 10,000 additional sq ft following the move.

Both Olswang and Nabarro will move into CMS HQ ahead of the 1 May merger go-live date, with lawyers and staff from Nabarro and Olswang occupying around two floors of vacant space in CMS’s building.

Olswang’s London premises are one of the most expensive in the City. The firm paid £9.7m in 2015/16 for the premises, equivalent to £81.75 per sq ft. The firm’s property costs were the second highest in the City – falling just behind Taylor Wessing.

Olswang had planned to go open plan in its London headquarters by March this year and was planning to offer agile working to all staff.
