K&L Gates has hired two partners and four associates from two Japanese firms in Tokyo.
Commercial dispute partner Takahiro Hoshino has joined K&L Gates from Hoshino & Partners, a firm he founded 18 years ago. He was also the firm’s managing partner prior to the move. Four associates have joined him in the move and they are Osamu Miura, Nobuki Wada, Yuki Okada, and Yasuhito Yamada.
In real estate practice, the US firm has hired partner Takahiro Tsumagari from Tokyo-based firm Atsumi & Sakai. Tsumagari was made up in this previous firm in 2010. He also previously worked at international firm Skadden’s Tokyo office.
“We are seeing increased business confidence in the Japanese economy, which will inevitability flow through to more activity for clients. Both partners have exceptional experience that will be invaluable in helping our clients navigate the many challenges they may face as a result of this increased activity,” said David Tang, K&L Gates’ Asia managing partner.
The new additions pushed the firm’s total number of partners to nine and total number of associates and counsel to 12.
