Edmund Gritt’s specialisms include defending and prosecuting allegations involving complex sexual offences, usually historic (sometimes ancient), often against children and sometimes by children, or against vulnerable adults, often involving multiple complainants and/or multiple defendants, indecent images and internet grooming; and defending allegations involving organised crime — contract killing, high-value armed robberies, drugs conspiracies, money laundering and cases involving major police informants.

The present focus of his private practice is in the Crown Court defending allegations of rape, sexual offences against children, indecent images, domestic violence and general violence.

He has a track record of successfully defending members of the armed forces both in the Crown Court and the Courts Martial.

In his regulatory practice, he acts for TfL and defends criminal enforcement actions by various agencies including  the Marine and Fisheries Agency (‘black fishing’) and the Maritime and Coastguard Agency. Gritt has appeared for commercial operators on appeals before the Transport Tribunal.
