Chinese firm Fangda has added corporate capability in Hong Kong with the hire of partner Andrew Lui from US firm Edwards Wildman Palmer.
Lui is qualified in Hong Kong and England and Wales. Prior to joining Edwards Wildman’s Hong Kong office in 2010, he was the head of legacy Salans’ Hong Kong office (9 August 2010). He also previously served as co-head of Pinsent Masons’ China corporate practice (16 January 2006) and a partner in DLA Piper’s Hong Kong office.
His practice primarily focuses on corporate and capital markets transactions and regulatory matters. Companies he has advised include Hutchison Whampoa, Cheung Kong Holdings, Samsung Securities, Ping An Insurance, SUEZ and the New World Group.
Lui is one of several senior lawyers that have recently joined Fangda from international firms. Last April, counsel Zhang Ying joined the firm from Clifford Chance in Hong Kong and in November 2012, former Allen & Overy Beijing partner Thomas Jones, who was also previously a long-serving partner of Freshfields, joined Fangda as a senior consultant in Beijing.
Fangda’s Hong Kong office now has two partners and eight lawyers.
