Eversheds healthcare chief Gilliam quits for Addleshaws

Eversheds’ Leeds-based head of health and life sciences Bill Gilliam has left the firm for Addleshaw Goddard.

Gilliam joined Addleshaw Goddard as a commercial litigation partner this month. His appointment is part of an ongoing strategy by Addleshaw Goddard to strengthen its offering in Leeds and invest in its capability to handle complex disputes in the healthcare sector as well as in IT, the public sector and public procurement.

Gilliam acts for FTSE 100 clients, public sector bodies, health and pharma companies. He also worked on the Mid-Staffordshire Inquiry and on secondment as acting head of legal in the commercial directorate of the Department of Health.

Addleshaw Goddard head of litigation Simon Kamstra said: “Bill is a highly skilled technical lawyer with a proven track record of litigating large scale disputes for a client base similar to our own – indeed for several major clients we already represent.

Eversheds’ life science partner Simon Crossley becomes head of Eversheds’ national health and life sciences team, having led the life sciences practice under Gilliam.

Addleshaws has hired a number of partners into its litigation practice over the last six months including Roman Abramovich litigator Kambiz Larizadeh from Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom (1 July 2013).
