DLA Piper has added Hong Kong partner Mark Fairbairn and Singapore of counsel Ashley Bell to its restructuring group, both joining from O’Melveny & Myers.
Fairbairn takes on the role of DLA Piper’s Asia restructuring head, based in Hong Kong. With over 20 years of experience in this field, he focuses on distressed and alternative investments, financial restructurings, as well as formal insolvency matters.
Bell is experienced in representing corporations, financial institutions and private equity investors in restructuring transactions across Asia. Based in Singapore, he will work closely with Fairbairn.
DLA Piper’s global co-chair for restructuring practice Gregg Galardi said the latest additions would enable the firm to expand the scope of restructuring practice to include more work for private equity firms and enhance offerings in contentious restructurings.
Terry O’Malley, co-global CEO and a member of the newly created Asia advisory committee (18 December 2013), said that the two appointments further underline the firm’s dedication to this very important region.
Earlier this month, DLA Piper also hired former O’Melveny Singapore counsel Timothy Tan as a corporate partner in its Bangkok office (6 January 2014).
