The introduction of the Bribery Act 2010 has broadened the range of bribery and related offences with serious ramifications for businesses and employers, particularly with regard to prevention and detection. Specifically, the act creates a crime of strict liability for corporations whose agents have bribed another anywhere in the world, subject to the defence that adequate procedures have been implemented to prevent the commission of bribery offences.
Our experience in advising and representing parties in cases under the current legislation and our proficiency in handling complex regulatory and criminal matters mean that we are well positioned to advise corporations about compliance with the new legislation and to represent individuals and companies subject to investigation and prosecution.
Members of chambers also deliver custom-designed training packages on compliance and other issues relating to the new legislation.
