Taylor Wessing German restructuring head Matthias Kampshoff is set to join US firm McDermott Will & Emery in its Düsseldorf office.
Kampshoff, a former Clifford Chance counsel, joined Taylor Wessing as a partner in 2008 from the magic circle firm. He focuses on restructuring mandates for insolvent companies, management, investors, creditors and administrators, specialising in the energy, pharmaceutical and automotive sectors, as well as in distressed M&A.
Hamburg corporate partner Bernhard Kloft will take over as restructuring chief initially, with the UK firm planning to grow its team in the area, JuVe reports.
Kampshoff becomes McDermott’s fifth German restructuring partner, adding to its three-partner capability in Düsseldorf. It also boasts one restructuring partner in Frankfurt.
The hire follows McDermott’s recruitment of Frankfurt arbitration partner Sabine Konrad from K&L Gates at the end of last year (3 December 2012).
2012 also saw the firm hire a team of capital markets partners led by Philipp von Ilberg and Joseph Marx from the Frankfurt base of defunct US rival Dewey & LeBoeuf (2 May 2012).
