K&L Gates has made up 50 partners around the world, including a trio in the City.
Last year, the firm promoted the same number of partners globally, although just two were made up in London.
Senior associate Feroze Abbas has been promoted to partner in the London planning team, having joined the firm in 2008 from Cambridge City Council where he was an in-house lawyer.
Meanwhile real estate special counsel Rajeev Joshi has also been made up, having started at K&L Gates after stints at Winward Fearon and Shoosmiths.
Special counsel Andrew Massey completes the London trio, becoming a partner in the firm’s investment management and funds group. Massey trained at Fieldfisher between 2004 and 2006, leaving the firm for K&L Gates in 2014.
The majority of promotions came from K&L Gates’ US offices, with Boston and Washington DC seeing four people made up in each.
In Europe, there were appointments in Berlin, Milan, Paris and Warsaw, although London still saw the highest number of promotions in the region with three. There were five promotions in the Asia-Pacific region, with Melbourne and Sydney both seeing people made up, as well as Beijing, Shanghai and Singapore.
A total of 27 women were promoted out of a total of 50, representing 54 per cent.
