Rajah & Tann and RHTLaw Taylor Wessing move into Vietnam with local alliances

Singapore-based Rajah & Tann and RHTLaw Taylor Wessing have both expanded their regional presence with a tie-up with local Vietnamese firms.

Rajah & Tann has entered into a partnership with LCT Lawyer to create Rajah & Tann LCT lawyers, which will be the firm’s Vietnamese member firm. Rajah & Tann already has a small office in Ho Chi Minh City which was established in 2011. The enlarged firm in Vietnam will have 25 lawyers across three cities, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Da Nang.

“Vietnam is an exciting place to be, and as one of the fastest growing emerging markets, the country continues to garner a lot of interest from the international business community,” said Chau Huy Quang, Rajah & Tann LCT’s managing partner based in Ho Chi Minh City.

Rajah & Tann embarked on its regional expansion in 2011 (14 September 2011) and now has a network covering eight out of the 10 ASEAN (the Association of South East Asian Nations) countries. Most recently, the firm launched in Cambodia and Myanmar, also by tying up with local firms (1 February 2013).

Singapore-based RHTLaw Taylor Wessing is a member of Taylor Wessing group. The firm has established an exclusive alliance with PBC Partners, a Vietnamese firm with offices in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. The firm in Vietnam, with 22 legal professionals, will be known as PBC Partners & RHTLaw.

It is the latest step of RHTLaw Taylor Wessing’s effort in building up a regional network. Last October, the firm entered into a formal association with 10-partner Indonesian firm Hanafiah Ponggawa & Partners (HPRP) (8 October 2013) and announced its plans to expand its regional network to cover the whole ASEAN region.
