ACH Shoosmiths has been appointed as one of five law firms that will provide legal advice to Scotland’s second-largest housing association, Dumfries & Galloway Housing Partnership (DGHP).
The law firm is now part of a panel providing external legal services and support on social-housing matters concerning real estate; housing law, governance and regulation and charity law; corporate, contracts, procurement and data protection; and employment.
ACH Shoosmiths was successful following a competitive tender process, along with Simpson & Marwick, bto Solicitors, Anderson Strathern and Harper Macleod.
The Edinburgh-based firm advises many of Scotland’s most enterprising housing associations and acts for some of the country’s largest, most active registered social landlords. It advises on matters including employment; acquisitions and disposals; large-scale, complex urban regeneration projects; corporate governance; commercial leasing; and litigation.
Covering almost 2,400 square miles, DGHP directly employs 237 people and through maintenance and investment contracts is responsible for the employment of many local construction workers.
