Fladgate has continued its recent run of lateral hires with a pair of partners from Dentons and Ashfords.
Teresa Cullen, a family specialist who was managing partner of Rochman Landau between 1990 and 2011 prior to its merger with Ashfords, and Dentons capital markets specialist Neil Vickers both joined effective 3 February.
Vickers’ hire is aimed at boosting Fladgate’s corporate capabilities in energy sector capital markets work. The lawyer, who has been a partner at Dentons since 1997, has more than 20 years’ experience specialising in international equity capital markets and public and private M&A advising clients with assets in Russia, Eastern Europe, Central Asia, the USA and Africa.
Grant Gordon, head of Fladgate’s corporate department, said in a statement: “Neil’s experience of working on an international platform will provide real added value to clients of our capital markets and energy and resources practices, both of which have been particularly active recently”.
Vickers is Fladgate’s third new corporate partner in the last few months and follows the hire of Ian Brent, DAC Beachcroft and Marc Sosnow, Teacher Stern. Fladgate’s chairman, Charles Wander said that the firm was now targeting associate recruitment in corporate after the arrival of three new partners.
Cullen is known for acting in cross-border divorces and high-value financial claims. Wander said her hire was part of Fladgate’s ongoing development of its private capital practice.
“We recognise that approximately half of our income is derived from private capital and the matrimonial piece is an important part of it,” said Wander. “This is a gap we’ve been looking to fill for some time and it’s an area we want to grow.”
Wander said there were more “strategic appointments” in the pipeline, “with one already signed up”.
Fladgate added six lateral partners last calendar year and eight the year before.
