Instructions have ranged from retail and commercial developments to residential, upper tribunal (lands), compulsory purchase orders and energy- and waste-related schemes.

Williamson has extensive advocacy experience, representing a wide range of clients at planning related public inquiries, magistrates’ court proceedings in relation to environmental offences, judicial review and other High Court proceedings and PPC appeals for clients in several environmental law cases that have had national prominence.

Chambers 2012 cited Williamson as having ‘encyclopaedic knowledge of planning law and an astute nature’ and the 2011th edition of Legal 500 referred to him as ‘a highly effective advocate who works diligently and intelligently in a demanding area’.

He was voted in the top 10 planning lawyers in the UK in the 2011 Planning Magazine National Survey of planning related professionals.

Williamson is also a qualified barrister and a chartered town planner and a member of the Law Society’s Planning Panel.
