There has been a flurry of moves in the in-house market this week, with both in-house and private practice reaping the benefits.
The most high-profile move was that of veteran aviation lawyer and partner Jeffrey Shane, who has left Hogan Lovells to join the International Air Transport Association (IATA) as general counsel.
Shane has been a partner in Hogan Lovells’ aviation practice since 2008 and previously did a six-year stint as associate deputy secretary at the US Department of Transportation. Currently based in Washington, DC, he’s due to relocate to IATA’s headquarters in Montreal to take up the role.
Across the pond, Tinu Adeshile, the sole in-house legal advisor at Islam Channel TV, has left to join the UK digital entertainment division of Japanese gaming company Konami. Adeshile joined the Islam Channel in September 2011 after qualifying at Calvert Solicitors and was one of the in-house stars of this year’s The Lawyer Hot 100.
And in other moves, Leeds-based Walker Morris has snapped up James Powell, the former commercial director at Everton Football Club. Powell will be a consultant in the firm’s sports team and has extensive experience of working with football clubs including Manchester City, West Ham United, and Newcastle United.
