China strengthens auto recall rules - .PDF file.
The new Regulations on the Administration of Recall of Defective Automotive Products (Auto Recall Regulations 2012) as promulgated by the State Council (Order No 626) on October 22, 2012 officially came into effect on 1 January 1 2013, which signals the Chinese government’s efforts to further improve quality of cars and road safety in China.
The Auto Recall Regulations 2012 override the Provisions on Administration of Recall of Defective Automotive Products (2004 Provisions) which were jointly issued in 2004 by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ), the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Commerce and the General Administration of Customs. Compared with the 2004 Provisions, the Auto Recall Regulations 2012 are promulgated at a higher level of legislation which reflects the clear aim of the Chinese government to reinforce the auto recall regime in China…
