Jones Day has promoted 47 lawyers to partner across the world, with two in London making this year’s promotions round.

Tax associate Anthony Whall will be made a partner from the start of next year, having joined the firm 10 years ago from Nottingham Law School.

Meanwhile of counsel Glyn Powell has also made the cut in the City, with Powell forming part of the criminal team. He joined the US firm in 2012 from the Serious Fraud Office, where he was head of the fraud business area for eight years. Previously Powell acted in other in-house roles at the Inland Revenue and Crown Prosecution Service.

Jones Day promoted more people in New York than any other office. The US and the Americas made up the majority of the promotions, although the firm’s hubs in Munich, Düsseldorf, Paris, Dubai, Singapore and Taipei have also been included in this year’s round.

Last year Jones Day promoted 42 partners globally, including three in London and 15 women. This year, 14 female partners were included in the promotions, with the number of partners promoted having increased since 2013 when just 34 were elected to partnership around the world.
