This year has been yet another year replete with employment law reforms. Addleshaw Goddard takes stock of some of the most important legislative developments and proposals from the year and also highlights some of the key decisions from the courts and tribunals.
Parental leave: on 9 March 2013 the amount of unpaid parental leave increased from 13 weeks’ to 18 weeks’ leave per child aged five or under.
Collective redundancies: on 6 April 2013 the law on collective redundancies changed, reducing the minimum consultation period for 100+ redundancies within a 90-day period from 90 to 45 days and excluding fixed-term contracts from the rules in certain circumstances.
