UK business rates appeals process move ‘should alleviate industry concerns’

Eversheds has commented on the government’s decision to fold the consideration of reform to the business rates appeals process into the broader review of business rates administration. Philip Myers, real-estate litigation expert at the law firm, said the decision is likely to be roundly welcomed by businesses.

He said: ‘The announcement should alleviate concerns raised by the majority of industry bodies involved, who objected to the proposed changes on the basis that they would serve only to increase coats and red tape while doing little to resolve the issues they were intended to address.’
