DLA Piper has announced that Majorie Winters has joined the firm as director and counsel of its NEST (NextGen Environment for STartUps) programme, which provides emerging growth legal services and advice.
Winters will counsel start-ups and mid-stage companies in matters related to formation, structuring, human resources, intellectual property protection, financing and mergers and acquisitions.
DLA Piper created the NEST programme to serve the specific needs of early-stage, high-growth companies. Utilising technology and proven processes, the programme is a unified approach focused on nurturing start-ups from formation to funding and onto a high-growth flight path.
Before joining DLA Piper, Winters served as vice-president and general counsel for Trade Technologies, a software and services company. In that capacity, Winters oversaw all intellectual property, corporate compliance, human resources, commercial agreements, litigation, mergers and acquisitions and financial matters, including budgets and projections.
Earlier in her career, she worked as a corporate associate with several national business law firms.
Winters earned her JD and MBA from the University of Texas-Austin and her BA from the University of Virginia.
