Irwin Mitchell has announced today that it will form ABS venture IMe Law with insurance company Esure.
The launch is Irwin Mitchell’s sixth ABS-related initiative since 2012. It tops more than a decade of work with Esure, the company best known for the brand Sheila’s Wheels.
The new venture is designed to simplify the litigation process for Esure customers and accelerate access to lawyers via the link to Irwin Mitchell.
Irwin Mitchell partner Matt Currie said: “In terms of timing, we’ve worked with Esure as a business for 12 years now since it came into being, and that grew and grew so this is just a next investment step in that process. It just seemed logical to bring them closer together.”
Through IMe Law, Currie said that Esure customers would be able to receive legal help through fewer steps than before.
IMe Law is Irwin Mitchell’s sixth ABS venture, and follows the granting of five licences to it by the Regulatory Authority (SRA) in 2012 (20 August 2012). Its sixth licence was granted earlier this year.
Irwin Mitchell group chief executive Andrew Tucker said in a statement that the new venture built on his firm’s long-standing relationship with Esure and would ”enhance” the firm’s service to Esure customers who require legal representation.
“Establishing this ABS is an innovative structure in keeping with the changing legal market,” added Tucker.
Alongside IMe, Irwin Mitchell’s five other ABS ventures are Irwin Mitchell LLP, Ascent Collections Ltd, Coris UK Ltd, Irwin Mitchell Trustees Ltd and Irwin Mitchell Trust Corporation Ltd.
