Walker Morris has launched the special 20th anniversary of its annual Children’s Calendar Painting Competition.
The competition, which is open to all primary school children, aged 4–11, across the Yorkshire, Humber and north-east Lincolnshire regions, encourages young artists to paint a picture of their favourite month of the year. The 13 winners (one for each month plus the front cover) will win a hamper full of artists’ materials for themselves and a cheque for £250 for their schools. Runners-up will also receive a prize.
The winning and runner-up entries will be used to produce a calendar, which will be sold in aid of Yorkshire’s Martin House Children’s Hospice, which cares for children and young people with progressive life-limiting illnesses and provides support to their families. Since the competition’s inception, Walker Morris has raised more than £60,000 for the hospice.
Yorkshire artist Ashley Jackson, who has been part of the competition since its inception. will once again be chief judge.
