Mourant Ozannes announces details of upcoming trust and private client events

Guernsey and Jersey will once again be the venues for two significant trust and private client conferences. The events, which are to be jointly presented by Mourant Ozannes and IBC Global Conferences, involve many international experts in the private client field and serve to inform trustees and private client practitioners on the latest developments affecting their work.

The theme of this year’s events is ‘Trustees’ duties, pitfalls and escape routes’ and they will discuss the implications of recent cases such as Prest and the ambit of Public Trustee v Cooper, as well as debating issues such as the lengths to which Jersey has gone in protecting trustees, the brave new world for Jersey charities and community property in Guernsey.

In Guernsey, the keynote address will be given by lieutenant bailiff of the Royal Court of Guernsey, Hazel Marshall QC, while in Jersey chief minister Ian Gorst will address delegates.

Speakers have been drawn from law firms and trust companies in the Channel Islands, the UK, Europe, the Caribbean and the US, including Mourant Ozannes, Farrer & Co, Withers and Sullivan & Cromwell. Butterfield, Serle Court and Nerine Trust are sponsoring the events.

The events will take place at the Old Government House Hotel in Guernsey on 29 April and at L’Horizon Hotel in Jersey on 1 May.
