Clyde & Co has unveiled a slimmed-down promotions round, with seven lawyers joining its partnership in seven separate offices.
The promotions round is half that of last year’s, when 14 lawyers joined the partnership (1 May 2012).
Three of the promotions to equity partner are in the firm’s marine and international trade group, two in insurance, with the last two in litigation and employment. Just two of the promotions are in the UK, with one new partner for each of the firm’s Guildford and London offices.
Out of the seven newly-promoted partners, three are female.
As well as making up seven to equity partner, six equity partners are promoted to the senior equity partnership, two more than in 2012. All the new senior equity partners are men and all but one are based in London.
Meanwhile the firm has hired aviation finance partner Sidanth Rajagopal from its affiliate firm in India, Clasis Law, and Ross Barfoot as a partner in Abu Dhabi. Barfoot joins Clydes from Trowers & Hamlins, where he was a senior associate.
The promotions are effective today (1 May) and bring the number of partners at Clydes to 295.
