The University of Law is launching a new Masters degree for non-law students.

The nine-month MA Law degree will be available from September 2017, subject to regulatory approval, and will run initially at the University Birmingham and London Moorgate branches.

It will do the same job as the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) in that it will satisfy the requirements of the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and Bar Standards Board (BSB) should students want to then take the LPC or BPTC.

The course will cost £12,140 in London or £9,980 in Birmingham.

Students will receive face-to-face teaching along with practical workshops, problem-based learning, negotiations, mooting and presentations.

A 2:1 undergraduate degree will be required to enrol on the course.

ULaw vice-chancellor and CEO Andrea Nollent said: “The MA Law is an ideal qualification for those students who want to learn important business skills that lawyers are renowned for.

“The professional development offered by legal training will enhance students’ career progression and personal development whatever career path they choose to follow.”
