Stephenson Harwood is retaining 78 per cent of its qualifying trainees this autumn.
Seven of the firm’s nine qualifying trainees were offered newly qualified (NQ) jobs at the firm, with all accepting.
The seven will all work in the London office, joining the commercial litigation, corporate, finance and marine and international trade teams.
Stephenson Harwood kept on six of seven qualifiers in the spring, meaning the firm’s total retention for 2016 is 81 per cent. Two of the March qualifiers joined the firm’s Dubai office, the first time that the firm has recruited English NQs to the region.
Meanwhile, White & Case has retained 75 per cent of its qualifiers, holding on to 15 of 20. It is an unusually low rate for the firm, which managed to retain 100 per cent of 27 qualifiers in 2015, and 13 of 15 in March 2016.
