Howard Kennedy has chosen the University of Law (ULaw) as its exclusive LPC provider.

The London Bridge-based firm, which did not previously have a preferred provider, takes eight trainees a year, with first-years paid a salary of £32,000.

Training Principal Vernon Dennis said: “Our decision to partner with The University of Law was based on our shared ambition to nurture the lawyers of tomorrow. We are confident that our trainees will gain an edge from their training, offering them the best stepping stone to a fruitful and fulfilling legal career.”

The battle between BPP and ULaw, the two largest postgraduate providers of legal education, for exclusive relationships with law firms is fiercely fought.

Since 2014, BPP has won Brabners, Farrer & Co, Mayer Brown, Holman Fenwick Willan, DAC Beachcroft, Clifford Chance, Nabarro, DWF and Walker Morris to its ranks.

Meanwhile, ULaw has picked up Fladgate, Fieldfisher, Shearman & Sterling and Trowers & Hamlins.
