Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer is to keep 95 per cent of its qualifying trainees on as solicitors this autumn.

The magic circle firm offered jobs to 40 of its 42 qualifiers, with all accepting.

It is the firm’s best retention result since autumn 2011, when it kept on 48 of 50 trainees (96 per cent).

Allen & Overy, the only other magic circle firm to release its retention so far, kept 86 per cent.

Meanwhile, Mishcon de Reya and Withy King have both scored 100 per cent retention.

Mishcon kept all 11 of its qualifiers. Three go to the real estate department and two each to the corporate, employment, dispute resolution and private client teams. Withy King had three qualifiers, sending them to corporate commercial, IP and family.
